Incorporated in 2000, Prophagia Inc. is a spin off from Ste. Anne?s Hospital, a Veterans Affairs Canada establishment, where the technology was initially developed.
In fact, Prophagia’s technological endeavours started in the early nineties, while looking for solutions for the alarming dysphagia problem which affected over 40% of
Ste. Anne?s Hospital clientele.
Scientific studies report that dysphagia currently affects up to 70% of institutionalized seniors and about 10% of individuals over 65.

President of Prophagia since 2000, a dietitian-nutritionist, Thérèse Dufresne possesses 20 years of strategic direction and management as chief of nutrition and food services, including Ste. Anne’s Hospital. She is renowned for her leadership, vision, mastery of the scientific approach and expertise in the development of value-added foods. Thérèse has received the 1998 Prix mérite Award from the Quebec dietitians’ association, the Ordre professionnel des diététistes du Québec. She is co-inventor of Prophagia’s two patented technologies. |

An MBA graduate and holder of a Ph.D. in Biological Science, has an innate sense of business and is equally proficient in scientific, sales and marketing communications. A talented manager, dietitian-nutritionist, with a microbiology background, Nicole Lachance directs the development and operations of Prophagia. She pilots the development of prototypes, colloid systems formulation and the development and implementation of production systems. Nicole brings to the team a remarkable expertise in management systems of food production, and a rigorous approach to the implementation of quality control systems. She is co-inventor of one of Prophagia’s patented technologies. |
